On that Thompson KO
I’ve been saying for awhile that strikers are starting to shine more and the trend will continue with the younger ones since they started their takedown defense/jj earlier in their career. Strikers didn’t feel grappling was that important in the beginning of ufc/mma days, thus the wrestlers rise to fame (matt hughes era). When Machida and the Spider (even before they got into ufc) came along striking was put back on the map and I like it.

especially with the ever growing popularity of martial arts.
If kids start training MMA at younger ages, they are going to be well rounded. If they want to keep the fight standing and work on some cool stuff (spining kicks, ect.) because the have to confidence of take down defence. It also helps that fighters are showing that you can use some flashy techniqes.

but you can’t convince an MMA fan that getting hit with a wooden sword when you are covered in armour makes you tough. They are just taking the wrong angle. I seen a few episodes. It was a group of maybe 8 dudes going to different cities, usually with the Renaissance festival, and holding a tournament. When they got to a big city they advertised it as like the “west coast world championship”, but it was the same dudes and 2 of them won every tournament. They were trying to start a jousting league, federationor something. Anyway it was Bad.

Armor just makes sure your head has something extra to bang into when you get knocked off your horse and land badly. Jousting is pretty dangerous.
