Former UFC Fighter, Hermes Franca Sentenced Over 3 Years for Sexual Abuse
OreganLive.com reports that former UFC lightweight Hermes Franca was sentenced to 42 months (3 1/2 years) in prison yesterday.
He was arraigned in May on seven counts of first-degree sexual abuse and two counts of second-degree unlawful sexual penetration. The remaining counts were dismissed.
Barros will also have four and a half years of post-prison supervision and must register as a sex offender.
Barros, a resident of Jupiter, Fla., turned himself in to Clackamas County Sheriff's Deputies in May after a warrant was issued for his arrest, stemming from a December 2010 encounter with one of his students.
Franca fought against Sean Sherk for the UFC lightweight title back at UFC 73 in July of 2007. He lost the fight and after the fight he tested positive for a banned substances and was suspended for a year and fined $2,500. His last fight was in April of 2011 for the IFL where he lost by KO early in the second round.
