Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos Releases Statement Re: Failed Drug Test
It was released just yesterday that former Strikeforce women's featherweight champion Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos had tested positive for anabolic steroids in her title fight against Hiroko Yamanaka on December 17. As a result of testing positive for the banned substance, the fight's result has been changed to a no contest (Santos had knocked out Yamanaka in just 16 seconds of the opening round) and Cyborg has had her license suspended for one year and was fined $2,500.
Santos has just recently released a statement via her Facebook regarding her failed drug test.
I am ultimately responsible for everything I put in my body, and at the end of the day, there is no excuse for having a prohibited substance in my system. I do not condone the use of any performance enhancing drugs by myself or any other professional athlete, and willingly accept the penalties and fines that have been handed down to me by the California State Athletic Commission and those of the StrikeForce/Zuffa organization.
While I was preparing myself for my last fight I was having a difficult time cutting weight and used a dietary supplement that I was assured was safe and not prohibited from use in sports competition. It was never my intention to obtain an unfair advantage over Hiroko, mislead StrikeForce, the Commission or my fans. I train harder than any fighter in MMA and do not need drugs to win in the cage, and I have proven this time and time again! My only mistake is not verifying the diet aid with my doctor beforehand, and understanding that it was not approved for use in the ring. Unfortunately in the end I suffer the consequences and must accept the responsibility for my actions.I will do everything I can to show my fans that I can still compete at the professional level without the use of any prohibited substances, and ask God's forgiveness for my mistake.
Since Santos came onto the scene she has been fighting against numerous accusations about steroid use. I'm not sure if this statement actually helps her or not. Was it steroids or supplements?

God help me, I lusted, and there is a promise in such sweat. But it is a whore's vengeance, and you must see it; I set myself entirely in your hands. I know you must see it now.
If she's lucky.
She’ll forever be tainted. What promotion would want her and who would want to fight her?
I don't think that she'll have too much trouble.
Josh Barnett is still well employed and he’s not the greatest heavy weight of all time.

Yeah, but Barnett always had a shtick. What’s Cyborg’s? She went from being an accused steroid-user and is freakishly muscled for a woman to a has-tested-positive steroid user and is freakishly muscled for a woman.
her shtick is being the best 145 in the world.
It’s a pretty good one if you ask me. People are going to treat her the same way as before. Everyone thought that it was highly likely she was using something, whether they were vocal about it or not. She’s still going to be a complete badass roids or not.

Truth
the public treated her like an abuser before, and they will after. Nothing changes there. She was a beast before and she will after/ Nothing changes there either/
The bottom line is Georges is being a little bitch. He didn’t step up and say anything when the UFC pulled me out of this fight. I understand sometimes you have to do what you’re told, but why wouldn’t you tell the media you still want to fight me? If I was Georges, I would want to fight the best. I would have asked for the Anderson Silva fight. I would have asked to fight the Strikeforce champ. But he sits there like a robot and doesn’t say anything at all, just like he’s not going to say anything about me calling him a bitch now. If I saw BJ Penn walking down the street and called him a bitch, we would be fighting right there on the spot. — Nick Diaz
I don't think I buy the excuse
stanozolol is a steroid, not a diuretic. Yes, body builders use it to maintain lean muscle while cutting fat… but it’s not used to just straight up cut weight like a diuretic would. It’s not something that would come into play, as far as I understand it, in that end of cycle cutting phase (which is water weight being cut). It would be used to remain lean on fat while not losing muscle over a longer period of time.
So… I don’t buy it personally.

Hey, she just wanted to remain competitive with her counterparts in the men’s 145 division. She was unfairly crippled at birth with a deficit of testosterone, and she’s just trying to remedy that problem.
I'd rather be trollin'.
