OH: B.J. Penn Fires Back at Cesar Gracie
Over the course of the past couple days, B.J. Penn tweeted a long rant about being upset with Nick Diaz trying to muscle him against the fence and that he was fighting "like glass-jaw Jon Fitch." Taking advantage of an opponent that is notorious for his lack of conditioning? What a concept! No surprise here, but Cesar Gracie soon answered Penn, essentially telling him to stop being bitter and to accept the fact that he has always been "surrounded by yes-men" who coddle Penn.
B.J. Penn was not going to take that criticism lightly, no matter how much truth lies in that statement. Penn fired back with this tweet:
@CesarGracieBJJ Excuses?? The whole world knows I lost the fight including myself. I’m tired of you talking down to me Cesar, I hope you’re in training camp right now because the next time I see you, you better not be "scared homie!"
There a slew of things I'm not really getting here. First off, if you know you lost the fight, why exactly are you complaining? It is not as if Diaz wall-and-stalled you on the way to victory, either. He beat you pillar-to-post. I understand that this is B.J. being B.J., but just take a loss graciously for once.
Second...why are you calling out Cesar Gracie? Are you going to challenge Greg Jackson next? Gene LeBell? Phil Nurse? Sure, Cesar has some MMA experience in getting knocked out by Frank Shamrock in twenty seconds. So if you are still a top welterweight and could be a top lightweight if you were willing, why bother? You know he is acting as a mouthpiece for everything Diaz.
In all, I guess this is just B.J. being B.J. It is good to see his fire being stoked again and it seems like he is motivated, which is the scariest Penn known to man. Personally, I'd love to see him and Nate Diaz slug it out. We'll see where this all goes and keep you up on it.
