OH: Jacob Volkmann on Administrative Leave for Obama Joke
Jacob Volkmann's brand of "humor" has once again gotten him into hot water. After making a joke about giving President Obama a "glassectomy" (according to Volkmann: "where they remove the belly button and put a piece of glass in there so you can see what you're doing while your head's up your ass") in his post-fight interview, Volkmann has been put on administrative leave from his job as a high school wrestling coach at White Bear Lake High School. Volkmann made this joke after defeating Efrain Escudero by unanimous decision at UFC 141. Volkmann tweeted this earlier this evening:
Was put on administrative leave from coaching white bear lake high school wrestling for my joke. Unethical! @ufc
This isn't the first time Volkmann has made negative comments about President Obama, as he made the infamous slapping comment in an interview with Ariel Helwani after his UFC 125 victory. He was placed on paid administrative leave after that interview as well.
As we all shake our heads at this, I'd like to leave you with Cole Miller's gem of a response:
@JacobVolkmann good for you
I commend Cole Miller for teaching us the proper way to respond to any of Jacob Volkmann's humor.

Somehow your signature makes whatever you say funny.
The bottom line is Georges is being a little bitch. He didn’t step up and say anything when the UFC pulled me out of this fight. I understand sometimes you have to do what you’re told, but why wouldn’t you tell the media you still want to fight me? If I was Georges, I would want to fight the best. I would have asked for the Anderson Silva fight. I would have asked to fight the Strikeforce champ. But he sits there like a robot and doesn’t say anything at all, just like he’s not going to say anything about me calling him a bitch now. If I saw BJ Penn walking down the street and called him a bitch, we would be fighting right there on the spot. — Nick Diaz
He is…a special kind of fellow, that’s for sure.

funny thing is...
Ariel Helwani got him first and he was smart and just talked about some stupid joke about a surgery where Obama’s bellybutton would be glass so he could see while his head was up his own ass….
then he goes over to another interview and instead of refusing to talk about fighting Obama again, he says he would hurt him by cranking subs. wtf dude. You just refused to do that 10 minutes earlier…

unfortunately he has the same view as 80% of men in MN
It’s really strange really. It’s not considered socially polite to talk about politics in rural MN with the exception of wanted to mutilate Obama.
