Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos Tests Positive for Steroids After Fight

Per California State Athletic Commission press release, Cristiane Santos (better known as "Cyborg") has been suspended for steroid usage after her fight with Hiroko Yamanaka:

Mixed Martial Arts fighter tested positive for anabolic steroid in December 16, 2011 test
The California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) has suspended the license of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter Cristiane Justino Santos, better known in MMA circles as Cris Cyborg, and has fined her $2,500 as the result of a positive test for a banned substance.
Santos' December 16, 2011 drug test came back positive for stanozolol metabolites. CSAC learned of the test results December 23, 2011 and suspended Santos's license, with the suspension applied retroactively to December 16, 2011. In accordance with Rule 368, the result of her last fight between Hiroko Yamanaka will be changed to a "No Decision".
"Our primary concern is for the health and safety of fighters," said CSAC Executive Officer George Dodd. "Anabolic agents and other banned substances put not only the users of those agents at risk, but their opponents as well. The commission simply will not tolerate their use."
The use of certain substances, including anabolic steroids, is prohibited under the Commission's regulations, and CSAC has among the toughest drug testing standards of any Athletic Commission in the country. It is the only commission that requires urine samples to be taken in the presence of a commission representative prior to a bout.
Santos's provision of a urine sample was observed by a CSAC representative and the sample was sent to the World Anti-doping Agency test facility at the University of California, Los Angeles. Santos has the right to appeal the suspension of her license.
The intelligent side of me wants to just smile and act like I knew this the whole time. However, I did not. It is a bit shocking, considering Cyborg followed protocol previously and passed the tests with flying colors. Multiple questions come up with this issue. Did she feel the need to use steroids after such a long layoff? Has Cyborg been on steroids and just got caught in her cycling process? What will this do to her legacy and her career if she has been relying on PEDs for the entirety of her career?
Furthermore, one has to wonder what Scott Coker, Dana White, and the rest of the Strikeforce crew are doing right now. The state of women's MMA has now been shaken to the core with their biggest star out for a year potentially.

WMMA isn’t in a position to be destroyed by this. Worst case scenario, I think most people have a chuckle/cry about this and move on as WMMA stagnates as much as ever.

the 145 division is the weakest division in the sport. This simply takes away the only viable name in the division, which may in end leave Strikeforce to drop the division. Or perhaps they build the division in her absence, who knows.
It really doesn’t have a large effect on MMA for women as a whole. Cyborg didn’t fight for a year and a half and it didn’t destroy shit. She won’t fight for a year, and it still won’t.
The 135 division is doing just fine. There’s far more depth than Rousey and Tate, and the division let alone the sport for females in general hardly rests on those two’s shoulders. The sky isn’t falling. The sport didn’t die when Gina left, it won’t die when Cyborg leaves for a year. Everything is going to be ok

I don’t think they will spend the time to build the division. Honestly, if they were to stick to two divisions, 125 is wide open, has more talent and more personable figures to sign. It’s an easier division to promote quite honestly.
