OH: BJ Penn Calls Out Nick Diaz, Allegedly Ready to Fight Again; Cesar Gracie Responds

Photo

We all saw B.J. Penn shed a tear before entering the cage for his UFC 137 bout against Nick Diaz. Whether or not these were tears shed for the Diaz family in lieu of the beatdown Baby Jay planned to give Nick or whether these were tears for fears...we'll never know. However, B.J. Penn took to the ol' Twitter yesterday to speak about his fight with Nick:

http://yfrog.com/oc35195437j-@nickdiaz209 Look how much bigger you are in this pic..I thought you were gonna scrap from the beginning homie? What was that coward fence holding strategy to tire out the smaller man? Street fighter my ass! I made you fight like glass jaw @jonfitchdotnet poser!

I'll be ready for that weak bs next time we fight!

To be perfectly clear, I'm not an expert in things that could potentially get you slapped in Stockton. If you would like a list of those, I would suggest tweeting the Diaz brothers or even Ariel Helwani. But I would assume that these would be some fighting words in or out of the cage for Nick.

B.J. is known to get a little mad about losing. "Greasegate" after his UFC 94 shellacking at the hands of Georges St. Pierre really made polarized some as they believed that even if GSP was a little greasy, would it really have mattered? He also "couldn't breathe" and "had no mobility in his core" during his UFC 63 loss to Matt Hughes and battled a sinus infection in his first loss to Frankie Edgar at UFC 112. And this might be the first and last time that I'll hear an opponent complain about Nick Diaz muscling them. However, for the piles and piles of excuses, we all know what a motivated Penn is capable of doing to his unfortunate opponents.

As with any Diaz saga, it doesn't end here. And we know the chances of catching up with Nick unless your name is Layzie the Savage is slim to none. So we'll settle for the response of Nick's coach Cesar Gracie in a blurb sent to Graciefighter.com:

BJ Penn has apparently not come to terms with the beating he received at the hands of Nick Diaz.

...

At some point it is up to those around you to protect you from yourself. To take you aside and let you know you are wrong and help save you from your folly. Unfortunately for Penn he is surrounded by "Yes Men" that are unwilling to do that. The outcome will be predictable, resulting in a fighter that will never push himself to the fullest and will always have excuses for his losses.

Cesar just went 209 all over B.J. Penn. He said what a lot of fans have thought over the years and that is likely to bring this feud to a slow simmer until the two are able to meet again. In any case, I doubt Nick will be able to come to the realization that B.J. is jocking for a rematch and this thing could get blown up to drastic proportions if these two ever become reacquainted.

Where did this suddenly come from? BJ is a few months late.

And, if he did come back to the UFC, it should be at LW.

Maybe he had a bad Christmas?

But, this delayed rage is really difficult to deal with.

I was always a big Penn fan and I think he definitely has a couple of more fights in him, but I only want to see him fight when he’s ready to fight. Really ready. Like ready to make grown men cry in the cage and cut their faces and lick their blood.

But only then.

His last few fights — meh. He didn’t look like he was focused on the actual fight, more like he was swinging and punching on auto pilot.
