Watch Dana White's UFC 143 Video Log - Day 1
Dana White gives us another video log as we head into fight week for UFC 143. He begins by stating that the Patriots will win the Super Bowl and promises that he'll crank out a few more of these vlogs for UFC 143. First up is behind-the-scenes coverage from UFC on Fox 2. Dana is meeting with the Fox crew along with Randy Couture and Jon Jones as they prep for their roles on the broadcast. The event starts and we're backstage and there is a very emotional Joey Beltran after his loss to Lavar Johnson. It's sad. Eric Wisely gets checked by doctors as he tries to explain what he felt and what happened when he got caught in the calf-crusher from Charles Oliveira. The doctors seem confused and ask him to confirm that he felt pain in his calf. I think if they had seen the fight, they would understand. Oliveira gets photographed and he looks pretty happy.
Cub Swanson warms up, George Roop walks out, and we see Jon Jones giving Swanson major props as he talks to people backstage. Both Michael Bisping and Chael Sonnen and their respective teams are watching the other fights from their warmup areas. Stitch Duran wraps Phil Davis and Jon Olav Einemo gets checked out and speculates that maybe he should travel earlier for fights in the U.S. since that was the first day that he actually felt good since traveling over. He then congratulates Mike Russow, who is also getting checked out. Russow says he's good but tired. We get to see a whole lotta Nik Lentz with that nasty eye cut, then Bisping and Sonnen walking out. Chris Weidman and Demian Maia both get checked out and Maia looks disappointed.
Cut to the Sonnen vs. Bisping decision announcement and then to Bisping getting checked out backstage and he's all stiff upper lip and I have feelings of like and I hate them. Bisping questions the 30-27 score (rightfully so, in my opinion). According to Bisping, Sonnen asked him what he thought right after the fight and Bisping told him he thought he himself had won the first two rounds and Chael responded that he thought Bisping might be right.
Next, we're getting ready for Rashad Evans vs. Phil Davis and Evans looks way serious. The fight ends, Rashad wins and Davis has some nasty cuts on his shin as he's getting checked out. Chris Weidman then appears and thanks Dana for the opportunity and says it was tough but that the toughest part was probably the 32 pounds he had to cut in 10 days. But, he says he couldn't turn that fight down because he really thought he could win.
