UFC On Fox 2 Live Results And Play-By-Play: Main Card

Welcome to the Gals Guide To MMA play-by-play of the main card (If you are looking for the prelims, you will find them one story down on our wonderfully pink page). The action starts this evening at 8 p.m. EST. Feel free to join the conversation!

Round 1: Weidman opens with a kick fake then misses with a front kick. Weidman charges and knocks Maia over. They are trading and Weidman is getting the better of it. Weidman is using an unorthodox jab to maintain distance. Neither of them have tried to take it to the ground yet. Weidman is doing a good job of switching up his combinations. Weidman lands a knee. Maia keeps trying to use a big left hand. Weidman lands another kick. They traded in the pocket with Weidman getting the better of it. Maia lands another knee to the body. Weidman gets a sloppy take down, but Maia easily slips out and gets up. Weidman rushes Maia and Maia is able to land some punches.

Round 2:Weidman opens the round very effectively with his jab. Weidman gets the takedown and lands in half guard but Maia slips out almost immediately. Standing, Weidman is definitely getting the better of Maia. Weidman is easily countering Maia's left hand. Maia went for what looked like a half-hearted takedown. It appears that Weidman is just trying to read him for openings at this point and is taking his sweet time. Weidman goes for the double leg and basically carries Maia to the cage. Maia pushes off and wins an exchange with a knee. Weidman is able to take it to the ground. Weidman tries to take Maia's back but transitions into the guillotine.

Round 3: Weidman slips a punch and attempts a takedown. Weidman pushes Maia back to the cage with some punches and gets the take down. Maia gets him in butterfly guard and stands it up. Maia went for a take down but it was stuffed. Maia goes for another sloppy takedown. Both mens' conditioning is not the greatest. Maia goes for a takedown and Weidman almost takes his back, but both fighters stand up. Joe Rogan said it best, It's turned into "a sloppy kickboxing match". Weidman lands 3 knees in a row right to the face. They both are standing on jello legs and have their hands down. Neither of them start landing until the end of the round. Weidman lands a head kick at the end of the round.

Chael Sonnen vs. Michael Bisping

Round 1: The round opens with some crazy swings from both men and Sonnen almost gets the takedown. Goldy and Joe are saying that there was an eye poke but I missed that. Sonnen attempts another takedown. Sonnen is pushing forward and lands the takedown. Sonnen does a little damage from guard but Bisping is able to get up. Sonnen get's the better of the clinch. When they break Sonnen immediately pushes Bisping back to the fence but Bisping was able to reverse it. Bisping breaks and Chael swings some wild shots toward him and misses. Sonnen goes for the take down but goes into the clinch. Bisping reverses and lands some shots. Bisping is landing almost everything that he's throwing. and Bisping get's Chael against the cage again.

Round 2: They throw some combinations with no clear winner and Sonnen pushes Bisping up against the cage. Bisping reverses again. Sonnen's game plan is not working. They get broken up out of the clinch by Herb. Sonnen gets the takedown and is almost in guard but Bisping has a butterfly hook. Sonnen continues to push against that hook but Bisping is effectively creating space with that hook. Bisping gets enough space to get up but Sonnen punishes him on the way up. Bisping gets the clinch against the cage. Bisping is working a single leg but is unsuccessful. Chael is landing some knees to the body, but Bisping is landing some short elbows from that clinch. Bisping is getting the better of the stand up and is even trying some fancy kicks.

Round 3: Sonnen gets a huge takedown. Bisping has both butterfly hooks in, but Sonnen moves into guard. Bisping tries to push Chael up but Sonnen comes crashing down on him. Bisping is going for his back. It looks like he's got both his hooks in and has the over under. Bisping is working on Chael's legs for an escape but Chael isn't falling for that trickery. Sonnen transitions beautifully to mount. Chael appears to be working for an arm triangle but Bisping is doing a good job in keeping Chael locked down and moves Chael to half guard. Sonnen is landing shots from half guard. Bisping is trying to get back up on the cage. They get up but Sonnen has Bisping against the cage, Bisping reverses and gets the takedown at the end of the round.

Rashad Evans vs. Phil Davis

Round 1: Both of them come out of their corners with rather odd walks. Phil is pushing the action with his jab, and is landing some kicks to the rib and leg. Davis' striking is looking sharp. Davis slips and Rashad takes advantage and takes it up against the cage but Davis pummels out. Rashad catches him in a headlock from the front but Davis was able to slip out. Rashad is starting to become more confident with his hands and lands some counters. Davis goes for a superman punch takedown combo. But it is shrugged off by Evans. Davis keeps going for kicks and Rashad catches his leg and lands in the half guard of Davis. Rashad is able to slip his leg out into side contol and into crucifix. Rashad is landing punches and Phil is able to wiggle out. Rashad holds the dominant position as Davis tries to stand.

Round 2: Davis keeps using that head kick. Evans is landing some counters but Phil is using his reach to his advantage. Rashad tries to clinch with Davis but Davis pummels out. Rashad is now trying to use his jab. Phil clinches and tries to take it to the cage but Rashad pushes him off. Davis is starting to slow down slightly. Rashad goes for a take down and pushes Davis against the cage but Davis cuts out taking a little bit of punishment. Davis is starting to become a little less comfortable. Rashad is landing some combinations. They clinch and Rashad pushes them against the cage. Rashad is starting to push the stand up and he uses Davis' kick to take him down. He lands in side control and lands some hard shots.

Round 3: Rashad is landing much more accurately, but Davis ducks down for a single. Evans stuffs it but Davis goes for another single. He's able to drag Rashad down but Rashad is able to reverse and takes the dominant position. He transitions to take the back but Davis defends well and the both get to their feet. They return to the clinch on the cage. Rashad is working the clinch well and is landing a lot of shots. Davis is not defending well in the clinch. Davis lands a takedown but he can't keep Rashad down. Davis gets the dominant position against the cage and works some knees. Rashad is working to pummel out and reverses it at the last second.

Round 4: Davis comes out this round slightly more aggressively and lands a good kick. Rashad is starting to pick apart Davis' stand up. Phil Davis attempts a takedown but it is stuffed. Davis is not using his reach as effectively as he was in the first. Rashad jams in and tries to get a guillotine and brings Davis against the cage and he crumples slightly. Davis pushes back up and gets into a good clinch position. Davis goes for a single leg and Rashad sprawls out and gets the dominant position. Rashad has Phil's back, but no hooks. Davis gets up and Rashad pushes him into the cage. The round ends with Rashad pushing forward.

Round 5: Davis continues to use his kicks but Rashad checks them easily. Rashad catches a kick and holds Phil's foot at his side as he lands punches.Rashad uses that to take Davis down and gets into half guard. Rashad slips his leg out and goes straight into a crucifix. Davis curls up and Rashad maintains the dominant position. Davis is able to stand back up. Rashad gets the better of a couple exchanges and lands a big right. Rashad gets another takedown but Davis scrambles up. Rashad gets him against the cage. Davis pushes off of the cage and starts going for that KO. He throws a head kick with no luck and goes for a take down which is easily stuffed. The round ends with Rashad getting the better of an exchange.
