Look Out For Falling Genius: The Gals' UFC on Fox 2 Predictions

UFC on Fox 2: Evans vs. Davis (via ufc.com)

Welcome to another weekend and another UFC event! It's the third weekend in a row that we've had UFC fights to watch and the second in row where the fights are free - how great is that? This weekend features UFC on Fox 2, which has a three-fight main card that can be viewed on Fox at 8:00 PM EST/5:00 PM PDT, and a seven-fight card of prelims that you can catch on Fuel TV at 5:00 PM EST/2:00 PM PDT. The main event is a light heavyweight clash between Rashad Evans and Phil Davis. This fight has almost been overshadowed by the anticipation of the other main card fights between Chael Sonnen and Michael Bisping, and Demian Maia and Chris Weidman. All in all, this looks to be a pretty fun card. Since I'm sure you want to know exactly what will happen in the fights, let us tell you. Check out our UFC on Fox 2 predictions below.

Main Card (Fox):

Phil Davis vs. Rashad Evans

Beth: Rashad's got to have the eye of the tiger. He needs to work his way up to Jones and Davis is just the man to step on. Rashad via TKO.

Donna: If Rashad Evans can fight as well as he can talk trash, he shouldn't have any problems here. Evans via Decision.

Kat: This could go either way, I guess, but I don't really see Phil Davis being much better than Rashad Evans in anything significant other flexing his entire upper body at weigh-ins. While there is a lot to be said for having an amazing flex pose at weigh-ins, that alone doe snot win fights. Evans by Decision.

Rach: Rashad can replicate Davis, but Davis doesn't have the striking that Rashad has developed. Rashad probably has a good enough clinch to keep the fight standing or just keep the top position. Evans by Decision.

Keren: Davis is a great fighter, but I don't think he's ready for someone like Evans. I can't picture Evans being submitted and I don't think Davis can KO/TKO Evans, but I do think Evans can do that to Davis. Evans by TKO.

Knitty: Rashad has got to be tired of everyone forgetting about him in the title picture (I know I have a few times.) But I don't think Phil Davis has enough to keep up with Rashad. Evans by decision.

Midge: I like Phil and all, but his game is pretty one dimensional. And by "pretty", I mean "ridiculously". I really don't think he has much of a chance against guys that can neutralize his wrasslin'. Guys like Jon Jones, Dan Henderson, and Rashad Evans are going to be too much for him. Luckily, Davis is young and has plenty of time to work on his stand up game after this crushing defeat. Evans by crushing KTFO

Mountaineer: Phil Davis is a great fighter. Rashad Evans is an excellent fighter. Phil is up and coming and Rashad is slept on and slips under the radar for most. Could be the dislike for him by most fans or it could be that he fights once or twice a year. That said, too much for Phil Davis this early. Lil' Nog to Rashad is a monumental leap in competition. Although Davis could grind a decision, I'll go with Rashad by 2nd or 3rd round TKO.

The rest of our predictions are after the jump!

Star-divide

Michael Bisping vs. Chael Sonnen

Beth: Sweet Lord, I'm so excited about this fight. Bisping may think he's King (or Count?) shit-talker but he's really just annoying. Chael Sonnen manages to make me smile while he's being a total prick. Chael via KO.

Donna: I can't even begin to describe how upset I am about the lack of crap talking between Bisping and Sonnen. I expected headline after headline of awesomeness, and yet, not so much. While Bisping's fists have never been something to be scared of, I think Sonnen is going to take this one to the ground and grind out a win. Sonnen by Decision.

Kat: I, too, am quite excited about this one. I'm ignoring the naysayers who think it will be a tremendously boring fight (blah blah blah, haters) and I'm actually hoping for some fun action that ultimately results in a Chael Sonnen victory. But, I'm still going to pick Sonnen by Decision.

Rach: Chael's going to do what Chael does best. He's going to get Michael Bisping on his back and grind him out. Bisping will give him some trouble getting the takedown, but I have a feeling that Pillowfists McTea Time can only weather the storm. Sonnen by TKO.

Keren: We all know Sonnen's weakness is submissions, but Bisping is not known for his submissions and I doubt he was training submissions for his fight with Maia. Bisping is great at using fast footwork and shoots in and out really quickly, but that's not going to work with Sonnen. Sonnen doesn't care what damage he takes, he's going to go in there, take you down and beat you down until the bell rings. Sonnen by decision.

Knitty: I too am upset at the lack of trash talk between these camps. I mean these two are hilarious... and we're getting a lot of respect. Bah. I think this fight will be fun for the first minute, as we're all amped up, until Sonnen starts taking him down and then grind it out. Sonnen by decision.

Midge: Are we really even discussing this? PillowFists McTeaTime vs. the most dominant wrestler in the 185 lbs division possibly ever? Bisping can't KO Sonnen, and he can't keep standing either. His only chance is a submission, which is by far his weakest link. Both of these guys' previous matches were much much more competitive. Sonnen by 30-24 Decision

Mountaineer: Michael Bisping has a solid ground game. But does he have an Anderson Silva ground game? Jeremy Horn? Renato Sobral? No, you say? That will be the deciding factor. Chael's wrestling is too much for anyone at middleweight. Sonnen by decision or 3rd round stoppage.

Demian Maia vs. Chris Weidman

Beth: I love Demian Maia but I have to go with the Long Island boy here. I've got to stay loyal to my homeland. Hopefully Maia doesn't make it easy for him. Weidman by Long Island Awesomeness (aka Decision).

Donna: Maia has made me sad lately, but I think that this is going to the fight (fingers crossed) where he comes back and reminds us why we all loved him so much in the first place. Maia by Submission.

Kat: Chris Weidman could shock the world here but I'm gonna stick with the more experienced Maia but not in spectacular fashion. Maia by Decision

Rach: Finger's crossed that we see that old slick Maia who was choking out people everyday. Maia by Submission.

Keren: Weidman is a great up and comer, but I don't think he's ready for someone like Maia. Weidman is a late replacement and hasn't had a full camp for this fight. Also, while Weidman is a great wrestler and not easy to submit, Maia claims that he was working on his submissions and wants to submit someone again and I think he can do it. Maia by submission.

Knitty: Maia will make a spectacular comeback and win by submission and pose for more awesome pictures on the beach.

Midge: Maia is back to training his ground game consistently, since he has reached a point where he is comfortable with his stand-up. That really sucks for Weidman, but it's really cool for us. Maia by SOTN

Mountaineer: TOUGH fight to pick here. Weidman is making strides and I think the guy has all the tools to be the new thing at middleweight. I've also seen Maia making so many improvements in his boxing and wrestling. Man...I'll go with experience and go with a Maia submission or decision. But please, don't put money on this one folks!

Prelims (Fuel TV):

Evan Dunham vs. Nik Lentz

Rach: Dunham will probably give Lentz some issues on the ground, but Lentz does have a slight striking advantage. Lentz by Decision.

Midge: I love Rach more than the delicious salad I had last night, but the lady has lost her marbles on this one (don't worry, I'll share. You can play with mine!) Dunham is going to pick Nik Lentz apart on the feet, leading to Lentz desperately shooting form the outside, getting his back taken, and choked out. Tap or Nap Nicky. Dunham by RNC

Kat: I was tempted to go with an Evan Dunham submission here but I'm feeling a little dull so I'm picking Dunham by Decision.

Mountaineer: Dunham should be on upset alert here. But I'll go with a Dunham decision.

Michael Johnson vs. Shane Roller

Rach: Roller's wrestling is too dominant. Roller by Decision.

Midge: Ok Rach found her (or someone's) marbles. Shane Roller is going to wrestle dominate this to a decision. Roller by UD

Kat: I do like Michael Johnson fairly well but I think this is a tough one for him to win. I'm taking Roller by Submission

Mountaineer: Remember when Shane Roller was supposed to be a beast in the WEC? Yeah, I'll go with WEC NEVER DIE! Roller by submission.

Jon Olav Einemo vs. Mike Russow

Rach: Einemo by TKO.

Midge: Jon Olav Einemo by the power of Marloes love! I'd love to see a TKO, but I won't be surprised to see a painful, power submission from top. Einemo by Marloesing.

Kat: So, I'm kinda excited about this fight. Einemo was my first instinctual thought but Russow is tough to finish and he's fighting in his hometown. This is a tough choice! But, I'm going with Russow by KO.

Mountaineer: Another even bout here. Mike Russow is tough and hard to take down. JOE is not necessarily a takedown guy. I see a slugfest here, and knowing the licking Russow can take...Russow by second round KO. Watch out for an Einemo submission here though!

George Roop vs. Cub Swanson

Rach: I have a feeling that this will be a good fight. Mostly because both of them are tough as nails. Roop by Decision.

Midge: George Roop has really progressed his game. He is at that point where the best give him issues, and the rest are put to the test. Not to rhyme all the time, I'm just a poet and I don't even know it. Roop by "woooow man. My arms..are like way over there"

Kat: I was tempted to pick Cub Swanson. I think he could pull it off. But, I'm going to say Roop by Submission.

Mountaineer: Fight of the night here! Roop has too much going for him. He put in a decent effort against Hioki, which is really a feat. Too much reach and nice knee tap takedowns. Roop by decision.

Charles Oliveira vs. Eric Wisely

Rach: I'm still drinking the Koolaid! Oliveira by Submission.

Midge: The koolaid is red with the blood of Oliviera's enemies. Glad to see him in the proper weight class. I look forward to Charles Oliviera vs. Jose Aldo in 2013. Oliviera by "Oh Yah!" Sub

Kat: Yup yup - Oliveira by Submission

Mountaineer: Eric Wisely is pretty capable on the ground, but not capable enough! Oliviera by submission.

Joey Beltran vs. Lavar Johnson

Rach: I have a feeling that Lavar Johnson will be able to test Joey Beltran's chin. Lavar better hope this doesn't go to the ground though. Johnson by TKO.

Midge: I don't really... know how to feel. Maybe... like both should lose some weight? Draw via apathy

Kat: Based on things I know little about, I'm saying Beltran by TKO.

Mountaineer: Please excuse Midge. He can't channel his inner neanderthal to enjoy the epic slop-boxing contest that will be going down here. I'll go with Beltran's blue belt in BJJ for a Beltran by submission. Weird, huh?

Chris Camozzi vs. Dustin Jacoby

Rach: Dustin Jacoby by Decision.

Midge: I think Jacoby will win, more on the fact that Chris Camozzi should be feeder for Bellator prospects, and not in the UFC.Jacoby by SD

Kat: I think someone's winning a decision here and I think it could be Camozzi by Decision.

Mountaineer: Dustin Jacoby's last fight was painful to watch. Not like he got his arm broken, but I could have had more fun watching CSPAN and reading about the stock market in the Wall Street Journal. I'll raise you one, Midge. Dustin Jacoby by DQ (illegal capoeira kick to the head of a downed opponent).
