Watch Dana White's UFC On Fox 2 Video Log - Day 1
Dana White is really doing a fantastic job about cranking out these vlogs lately and I appreciate that. This one starts at the UFC on Fox 2 press conference, which was a while back when Chael Sonnen and Michael Bisping were not yet slated to fight each other at the event. They are sitting next to each, talking trash about other middleweights, and it occurs to me what a fun trash talking team the two of them would make. It would be so dynamic! You'd have Bisping hitting the lowest common denominator stuff with all his playground-level insults and high volume of words uttered, and Chael hitting the more cerebral home runs at a much more measured pace, satisfying the intellectual set. It could be great. Just imagine... What is up with Dana's art?
Anyway, Dana makes sure we all know that the prelims for UFC on Fox 2 will begin at 5:00 PM EST/2:00 PM PDT on Fuel TV and will run for three hours. After that, at 8:00 PM EST/5:00 PDT, the main card (three fights) will air on "Big Fox". If you are one of those lucky people that gets Fuel TV, you will get to see every single fight on this card for free on TV. Awesome! He also plugs the first installment of UFC Primetime: Diaz vs. Condit, which he says you MUST watch because it was so good (it really was).
Next up is the good stuff, which is the backstage stuff at UFC on FX. Happy and sad fighters are getting their wraps cut off and talking with their people. I am always amazed at how they can still take feedback about their performances immediately after the fight, even if they've lost. We also see Jorge Rivera in the cage after his win and you can hear the crowd chanting his name. That's pretty sweet. A completely bummed Eric Schafer gets checked out by the doctor backstage as a beaming Rivera sits down to get checked out just on the other side of the curtain.
The crowd goes wild as Pat Barry defeats Christian Morecraft and does his one leg up on the cage thing. Then, Morecraft is getting checked while Mike Easton is losing his sh**. Barry pops his head through the curtain to chat with Morecraft and it's cute. Next we see a very fired up Easton, who no longer seems angry (after his win). Jared Papazian gets some coaching while being checked out. Duane Ludwig looks awfully disappointed after his loss. Then, Jim Miller is getting ready to walk out and omgilikehimsomuch. Right before his fight, Melvin Guillard appears to take a picture with a fan/cook backstage. That was nice.
Dana is pleased with the event on the whole while Guillard is disappointed after his loss and is trying to figure out what happened. He sees Jim Miller and gives him a kiss on the head while Jim is doing an interview backstage. Awwww.
Jon Jones then gives his UFC on Fox 2 predictions: He can see Phil Davis winning by knockout because "Rashad's chin sucks" or he can see Rashad Evans winning by "taking him down and trying to lay on him". He says he's rooting for Rashad to win so he can fight him and get past it. I'd like to see that, too. In Atlanta. On April 21. At UFC 145.
