Look Out For Falling Genius: The Gals' UFC On FX Predictions
The very first UFC on FX event is happening tomorrow night! I hope you're excited for this completely free (with cable or satellite subscription) card. Just as a reminder, the event is on Friday and not Saturday so don't completely rearrange your social calendar to be home on Saturday only to find that the fights already happened and you have nothing to watch. The main card for this event will be televised live on FX starting at 9:00 PM EST/6:00 PM PDT and the prelims will be shown on Fuel TV at 6:00 PM EST/3:00 PM PDT. Without further ado, this is what we are predicting will happen in the fights tomorrow night.
Main Card (on FX)
Jim Miller vs. Melvin Guillard
Kat: If Melvin Guillard punches Jim Miller just the right way, he could knock Miller out, but Miller is a tough dude and I think he'll hang in there. I could never pick against a Miller brother and I do like them subs. Miller by Submission (RNC?)
Donna: Guillard is definitely flashy, but I think Miller is the overall better fighter. Guillard is going to do something impatient and stupid, and Miller is going to catch him. Miller by submission.
Midge: Jim Miller is better than Guillard. He might not have the KO power, but he is just better. Miller is going to take him down, and take it to him. Miller by 2nd round TKO
Keren: Guillard has the power to knock out Miller, but is he patient enough? Miller is tough and smart. I think he can handle whatever Guillard brings him and will then submit him. Miller by Submission.
Knitty: The Miller brothers have a hold on me, and I think they can find me if I pick against them. Miller by submission.
Lizzie: I know Melvin can knock him out, but I'm going with Miller by submission.
Mountaineer: Guillard cannot knock Miller out, folks. When Jim Miller was created, they gave him the chin of Cabbage Correira, the cardio of Nick Diaz, and the heart of Frankie Edgar. The guy only loses by decision and Melvin doesn't decision. Miller by decision or submission.
More genius after the jump!
Duane Ludwig vs. Josh Neer
Kat: Duane Ludwig looked pretty good his last time out. I can barely remember Josh Neer's last outing because that was the night of the crazy Barry vs. Kongo fight and I think when that happened it smacked everything else out of my brain. So, I must choose Ludwig by Decision.
Donna: I don't know who to pick!!! I'm still traumatized by Ludwig's win over my boyfriend, Amir. I'm figuring Neer will choose to take this one to the ground and grind out a decision victory.
Midge: Two guys that I enjoy, but don't necessarily think should be in the UFC. They'd be good additions to Strikeforce. I'm guessing Ludwig gets the strikes off and out points Neer. Bang by Decision
Keren: Ludwig looked really good against Sadollah and I think he can outstrike Neer. Ludwig by Decision.
Lizzie: I think Ludwig for sure. KO hopefully.
Mountaineer: Really tough bout here. Most people want to give the edge to Ludwig because of how good he looked against Amir Sadollah. Thing about Josh Neer is that he doesn't lose unless you are a superior grappler. Neer by decision or submission.
Knitty: I think this fight will be fun to watch, but I'm going to go with Ludwig by Decision.
Mike Easton vs. Jared Papazian
Kat: Jared Papazian's nickname is "The Jackhammer". I was going to make a lewd comment about that but I refrained. Being that Papazian is brand spankin' new and all, I think I'll have to go with Easton by TKO.
Donna: I love a good bantamweight fight! Easton has a really impressive 6 fight winning streak, which includes a win over TUF champ John Dodson. I'm going with Easton by Decision.
Midge: Eventually, all shall know the name of Mike Easton. Easton by UD.
Keren: I haven't seen Papazian fight and I've been impressed by Easton. Easton by TKO.
Lizzie: I don't know Papazian, but Easton has been good. I'll just have to see how this one ends.
Mountaineer: Mike Easton was my first live MMA event. Guy is good. Real good. Easton by submission.
Knitty: I don't remember watching either of these fight, but I'll go with Easton by TKO.
Pat Barry vs. Christian Morecraft
Kat: Pat Barry needs to get back on track. I'm tired of this nonsense. I better see no bro-hugging, no multiple knockouts ending in Barry's own knockout and no manties. I would, however, welcome in-car singing with CroCop. And a Pat Barry victory! Pat Barry by KO.
Donna: Poor Morecraft. I feel like this is a gimme to let Barry get his mojo back. Barry by KO.
Midge: Pat Barry by very berry killer hail marry KICK to the face. Barry by KO
Keren: Barry really needs this win. He has the power to KO Morecraft, but will he? Hopefully he's learned a thing or two about fighting someone with a huge height and reach advantage. Barry by TKO.
Lizzie: I'm all about the kickboxers, go Pat.
Mountaineer: Here comes Debbie Downer. Christian Morecraft by (wah, wah, wahhh) first round submission.
Knitty: I am the LEADER of the Pat Barry love, and my man Pat (who follows me on Twitter and Instagram, I feel super special. Me and the thousands of others he follows...) needs a win badly. I'm willing him to get it. Barry by KO.
Prelims (Fuel TV):
Charlie Brenneman vs. Daniel Roberts
Kat: This is actually a little tough one for me to pick. I want Charlie Brenneman to win but I have a feeling Roberts could actually pull this one out. Hmmmm. I'll wimp out and pick Brenneman by Decision because Roberts has been struggling.
Midge: Sucks to be Roberts. He's at that spot where he could get cut if he loses...so they give him a hungry hungry Brennaman coming off a loss to a light heavyweight. Brenneman by UD
Keren: Brenneman is the more well rounded fighter. Brenneman by Decision.
Lizzie: Brenneman has been pretty tough, well except last time, but I'll go with Brenneman.
Mountaineer: Hey, remember when Brenneman beat Rick Story? Remember how much better Rick Story is than Daniel Roberts? Brenneman by decision.
Knitty: I agree with Midge, I think Brenneman will be hunting badly for a win. Brenneman by decision.
Kamal Shalorus vs. Habib Nurmagomedov
Kat: Kamal Shalorus lost to Jim Miller in his last fight but there is no shame in that. He was doing alright before that. I'll stick with Shalorus by TKO.
Keren: I think Habib Nurmagomedov will want to impress Friday night. He's got some nice submissions and I think he can submit Shalorus. Nurmagomedov by Submission.
Lizzie: I've been a fan of Shalorus for a while so I'll stick with him here.
Mountaineer: Shalorus by TKO.
Knitty: Shalorus by TKO
Fabricio Camoes vs. Tom Hayden
Kat: Tom Hayden looks like he might be alright but I don't know much about him. Fabricio Camoes has experience on his side. I think that could help him get a win. Camoes by Decision.
Mountaineer: Camoes by decision.
Jorge Rivera vs. Eric Schafer
Kat: Jorge Rivera can be beastly. I'm sure Eric Schafer can be somewhat beastly, too, but I give the nod to Rivera by KO
Keren: Win or lose, this could be Rivera's last fight and I'm sure he'll want to finish this but Schafer is tough. Rivera by Decision.
Lizzie: Rivera
Mountaineer: Schafer vs. Mayhem Miller would actually be a competitive matchup. Mediocre striking and great grappling. Rivera by TKO.
Knitty: I gots to go with Rivera by TKO
Nick Denis vs. Joseph Sandoval
Kat: Nick Denis's nickname is "The Ninja of Love". I heartily LOL'ed at that one. Joseph Sandoval lost his first UFC fight and that was his first career loss. I wonder if that loss will help him for this fight. I think I have to pick The Ninja of Love. Denis by KO
Mountaineer: Denis by KO.
Knitty: Since Kat brought up Denis' nickname, how can I pick against that? He should be fighting closer to Valentine's Day! Denis by KO Love.
Daniel Pineda vs. Pat Schilling
Kat: Pat Schilling has won every one of his fights in the first round. I wonder it he'll get super tired if his fight goes longer. Daniel Pineda has ended many of his early, too, and he sometimes gets subbed. So, I'll go with Schilling by Submission
Mountaineer: Pineda by TKO. Too much experience and Schilling's strength of schedule is dismal.

Going againist the popular vote.
I think with the training at Jacksons and the move to Blackzillas we will see a better Guillard than people think. He will take out Miller and surprise a lot of the naysayers.

the problem with melvin has never been skill it's mental
like in his last fight if he kept his feet on the ground moving and working a solid jab. instead of swinging for the fences it might have ended better for him.
MIller has never been finished
and is better at everything than Joe Lauzon is. If Guillard won this would be far and away the best win of his career. Guillard, at his best has never shown himself to be an upper echelon fighter.
It's going againist the grain
I think this will be a fight where Guillard puts it all together so to speak. I’m a fan of both guys, and used to not care for Melvin. He’s finally showing some maturity. On paper Miller takes it the majority of the time. I just think its gonna be one of those fight that surprises everybody and Guillard ends up shinin. As far as Miller never being finished. No elite fighter goes their entire career without it happening. The only ones it could be said about right now are still young fighters. There are too many variables across the board in mma, it is not predictable from matchup to matchup the way other sports are. The theory of a>b and b>c, then a>c is disproved all the time in this sport.
