Was Gina Carano's Voice Dubbed in 'Haywire'?
TMZ continues their solid MMA coverage with a report that Gina Carano's voice in her new film 'Haywire' may not actually be her own. Oh, how scandalous!
Sources connected to the film's production company are allegedly saying that the powers that be behind the movie were not completely pleased with Carano's voice in the film so they doctored it up in post-production. No details are provided on whether it was just digitally enhanced or whether she was completely dubbed over by another voice.
These allegations are not altogether surprising since many viewers of the film's trailer had been commenting that her voice sounded different - in a lower vocal range - when they first watched the trailer months ago. I noticed it but thought maybe she was just making herself speak lower to sound more like her character should. Two examples are provided below (all courtesy of TMZ) so you can judge for yourself if we're hearing the real Gina.

Oy, Poor Gina.
I think she may end up ruing the day that she decided to be in a movie. If she’s not filming another movie right away, it’s most likely a sign that Hollywood’s not that fond of her. That’s why I laugh when Rampage threatens us to make more movies. If Directors wanted him in their movies they would have asked right after A-Team, not a couple of years later. I find MMA fighter’s group desire to be in movies embarrassing. I have yet to see one who’s not a bad actor.

It’s not just mma fighters — it’s all athletes — they were meant to compete not to act.

The Rock
is the only one who I think has been really successful with the transition, but that’s about it.

the show and spectacle of pro-wrestling pretty much served as an acting school for the Rock. MMA has no true equivalent. and it’s not easy for athletes to get ahead in acting unless they have a high level of charm and the ability to adapt and learn quickly.

I don't about being a good actor
but yeah you have to have some degree of acting chops.

oh laypeople
you know there is the possibility that Hollywood involvement continuation depends a big debut?
Despite that known contingent, this IS quite a unique situation as ‘The A-Team’ wasn’t made for Quinton.
Only a VERY small percentage of mma fighters are set with the money they’ve made and could make. Also, movie opportunities aren’t exactly common. Please factor that in when concluding something is “embarassing”.
I'm not a layperson. I have a ton of friends in the movie industry and have worked on movies before.
If you’re a well respected actor, you get one role after the other. The Hollywood community is very small and the people who hire actors talk. That’s why actors who are a pain in the ass don’t work long. Look at Jessica Chastain. She went from no one knowing who she is to having about 5 movies come out in the span of a few months. That would happen to Gina Carano or any other athlete if they were worth working with.

here’s some info glossed over that someone like myself, whose circle only knows things mused about by drama students.
working continuously would have to mean she would have to take ANYTHING that came her way after this project. Also, this vehicle could have stipulations or intentions of waiting until it comes to term. She herself has that own parameter via her testimony and the extreme likelihood that she’s turned down things in the past from previous fame.
Then definitely all the better for her. I mistakenly lumped her into the category of MMA fighters who seem to latch on to any action type movie that comes their way. I would think that acting in a Soderborgh (sp?) film should give her some Hollywood cred. I shall now reserve judgement until I’ve seen the movie.

another point
It would be virtually impossible to dub her voice without the actress doing the dubbing getting credit. It’s part of the actors union contract. All it would take is to check the credits to know for sure.
and some source testimony to complete the ^ flash kick combo
-NoHoldsBarredRadio-EddieGoldman Podcast:
Gina Carano: “Steven Soderbergh wanted Mallory and Gina to be two completely different entities…He did do some some altering and mixing, and we went back into A.D.R. He really worked hard at making Mallory into a different entity…I was honored to be a part of it, whether there was altering or not…”
note – Director Steven Soderbergh also mandated no acting coach usage for Gina (source: BulletMagazine)
Isnt she filming for the next Percy Jackson movie?

People have too much time on their hands
I can’t tell the difference. I mean I guess it’s a little more subtle in the movie, but idk.
What’s up with the reporter in the first vid sounding like a porn director!?
Gina: They leave that open for suggestion
Reporter: Yeeaaaaah
Gina: They both have a lot of adrenaline in common
Reporter: Yeeeaaaah…now reverse and go full throttle.

i wondered why her voice was so gravelly and low, but maybe she was asked to do that intentionally similar to Christian Bale in The Dark Knight. TMZ makes their money by blowing shit out of proportion, and i don’t really think anyone cares.

A lot of people have very different “acting” (or public speaking) voices then their real ones. I myself have a deeper public speaking voice, it’s something you do without thinking.

it is her and there's one other little issue
1. in some parts shown its UNQUESTIONABLY her unedited (ex. tells Michael Angarano: “Get your head down!”)
2. There’s another issue whose cause isn’t so cynically assumable – Director Steven Soderbergh’s policy for her to have no acting coach (source: BullettMagazine)
