OH: Josh Koscheck's Return Could be at Middleweight or Welterweight
I knew he was teasing us! Or, maybe it was just wishful thinking on his part which led him to do some prematurely excited tweeting. In any case, after causing a bit of a stir a few weeks back when he tweeted that his next fight could be at middleweight and that he'd called out someone at 185, Josh Koscheck is now unsure of who he'll be fighting next or how much he'll weigh. His tweets also leave some room for speculation about what his future may hold. He started it off on Wednesday with this one:
Not sure who I am fighting yet nov 19 sorry guys. We still have time to find a good one. 2 fights on my contract so i want BIG fights.
So, it does still sound like he expects to be on that November 19 card in San Jose that was formerly known as UFC 138 but is now maybe called UFC 139. But, what's all this about two fights left on his contract? Is he planning to go somewhere else? And, what exactly is a BIG fight? Is he taking advice from Jon Fitch? A follower asked him what he had planned after those two fights - perhaps a gig with the WWE? Koscheck replied:
Haha #wwe would be fun talkin shit...
Yeah, OK. Whatever. Anyway, another fan expressed his disappointment that Koscheck will not be fighting Chris Leben at that numbered UFC event on November 19 because Leben is now slated to face Mark Munoz at UFC 138, and Koscheck agreed:
:(( i tried really hard sorry
So, it does seem that when Koscheck was seeking a middleweight bout for his return, he was indeed trying to set something up with Leben. He was right, too - the fans probably would've enjoyed it. Well, that's too bad. Koscheck's final tweet on the subject leaves open the question of the weight class in which he'll be making his return:
It could be at 185or170 doesn't matter2 me...just in a great place. No bullshit/stress. Just eat sleep & train. #Mindlesstraining.
I hope they find something for him soon. It will be nice to see him back. Seriously. Koscheck will be returning to the Octagon for the first time after breaking his orbital bone in his fight against Georges St. Pierre at UFC 124 in December.
