UFC 133 Fight Card: Phil Davis Out. Rashad Evans Set to Rematch Lyoto Machida - Head Kick Legend:

"UFC 133 was set to be the UFC's big return to Philadelphia after the highly entertaining UFC 101 where Anderson Silva stopped Forrest Griffen in the first round. The card was set to be headlined by Rashad Evans coming back from a long layoff against rising Light Heavyweight star Phil Davis. Unfortunately, it looks like Davis is now out of the fight because of a knee injury.

Instead, I have learned from sources close to the situation that Rashad Evans will be facing the one man who defeated him, Lyoto Machida. The fight will be a rematch from their UFC Light Heavyweight Title fight over two years ago at UFC 98. The first fight was entertaining but it showed a real hole in Rashad's game. He was unable to figure out Machida's timing and suffered a knockout loss because of it.

There are those who will be excited for this match and I am one of those people. Rashad Evans and Lyoto Machida makes sense from a divisional relevance point of view to figure out who will get the next shot at the Light Heavyweight belt after Quinton Jackson fights Jon Jones for the belt. Unfortunately, it's an extremely difficult fight for Rashad. Machida's style is difficult to figure out and Rashad is best when fighting inside.

Expect the UFC to confirm this fight shortly on twitter. "

Updates from Mike Chiapetta's Twitter feed:
Ok I can report Machida vs. Evans II is the fight UFC wants, but it is not agreed to just yet. #UFC133

I just asked Dana White if Lyoto accepted the fight. His answer: “No, and Tito turned it down.” There is no replacement yet. #UFC133

So, Tito got the call and said no. His fight with Bader lasted 1:56. Turning down Rashad rematch will do him no favors.

I just want to clarify something. Machida hasn’t declined the fight. But he hasn’t accepted it yet either. They’re waiting on him.

Honey badger don't care.
