PrintPeople are losing their minds (and rightly so) over Chan Sung Jung's twister submission over Leonard Garcia tonight at Fight Night 24. It was indeed pretty sick, and if Joe Rogan is right, it's the first time it has ever been used in the UFC. I imagine the Korean Zombie will be heading home with a Submission of the Night bonus. However, we feel the need to point out that Shayna Baszler used this very submission three years ago (!!) at an EliteXC event against Keiko Tamai. The video below shows the Queen of Spades get the win against Tamai with a twister early in the first round of their fight. You can really see the stress that this submission puts on the spine and neck when you watch the video below, and I will certainly avoid being put into that position whenever possible. Anything boys can do girls can do better, right?

She’s technically under contract… they just haven’t used her since she lost to Sarah Kaufmann in 2009 (she’s had four wins a row since then, all over non-cans).
It’s kind of ridiculous since she’s one of the best 135 lbs. fighters out there that they don’t use her to build that division more.

she is by far and easily a top five 135er. I’ll shun anyone who says otherwise! IT angers me I cant see her fight easily and regularly. Plus shes fuckin bad ass and cool. Yes, I have a crush.

Shayna’s positioning was much better. Not to mention that Tamai is a ground fighter with about half her wins by submission. Shayna also ended the girls career with that. She pulled it exactly right and visciously.
As opposed to The Korean Zombie pullin it on a dude who had no clue what was happening. Not to take away from Jung, but Shayna’s twister is super sickness 5000

Also notice where each fighter is holding the grip
Shayna’s grip is higher on the head, whereas Jung’s was more around the jaw. If you get it higher towards the forehead, it creates more of a twist and thus it is much worse. This is why Shayna tapped out her opponent seemingly effortlessly, while Jung was cranking on Garcia’s head for some time before the tap.

Baszler also used the submission last year vs. Megumi Yabushita – sorry to say the video has been taken down since then

The University of Utah is off to the Pac-12 Conference and will be in the South Division. Hopefully we will get to the first ever Pac-12 Championship Game. Jon " Bones " Jones new light heavyweight champion. Even if Jones got struck flush in the face he would recover and defeat whoever is in front of him. I told everyone the fight would be easy. Almost felt sorry for Rua. Anderson Silva would never fight "Bones". The Cult of Personality is here.

Oh yah. Shayna is one of the girls getting the full week treatment here :-) I promise there will be girls you dont know Wolfs (and fights by those yo do know that you havent seen. Did you know Sarah Kaufman finished 7 or 8 straight by T/KO before going to strikeforce on short notice?)
