Dana White Unsure Of Mayhem Miller's Future With The UFC
According to the folks at MiddleEasy by virtue of UFC president Dana White's post-fight interview with Heavy.com, Dana is uncertain of former Strikeforce fighter and Bully Beatdown host Jason "Mayhem" Miller's future with the company. Dana believed that the finale of The Ultimate Fighter 14 between Miller and Michael Bisping was "one of the most lopsided fights he has ever seen." Dana went on to say that he didn't even score the first round for Mayhem, saying that Miller ultimately did nothing with the mount and that Bisping landed more from the position.
From my standpoint, it is hard to disagree with Dana's thinking at the moment. True, it may be a bit rash, but post-fight thoughts are always more intense because of the lack of cool-down time from the event to truly process the events that occurred. Mayhem looked really lethargic and seemed to be out of wind after the first round of the bout. From then on, he performed abysmally, trying to play the Werdum to Bisping's Overeem and hope for a reckless fall into a hail mary submission. Granted, I wasn't terribly impressed with Bisping's performance. For as bad as Mayhem looked, Bisping should have been able to put him away if he is on this elite stature that most tout him as.
Video of the interview with Dana's thoughts on the event and future UFC plans found after the jump.

I think all of this (even Dana’s reaction) is an over reaction to the situation. By no means do I think Mayhem looked good tonite, but even a loss like that to a top 10 fighter is no reason to be cut. Bisping looked good, but I’m not surprised by his lack of KO here either. He’s not known for his standing power and there’s no reason why we should expect that to change. Fact is, Bisping severely punished Miller throughout the 2nd and 3rd rounds and that should be rewarded with a fight against a top 10 fighter. Miller, an unranked fighter didn’t rise to the occasion against Bisping and should be given a shot against someone of equal ranking.

yup bisping looked like crap
miller looked liked like crap. give miller a better match up for him i don’t know who. give bisping a better fight so he can be reminded of why people think he is a cocky asshole.
I suppose it would be a tad drastic to cut him for the sake of marketability. Mayhem has a good following and had a pretty successful show on MTV. However, he looked horrendous.

The fact is, Bisping only looked ‘good’ because Miller looked like crap. I don’t think Miller should be cut based on that loss alone… but if he doesn’t turn it around with another fight, I doubt Dana will keep him.
I also hate interviews from right after the events. Give everyone a day to settle down first.

Ring Rust
Clearly the 1 round Miller had energy, first round, he gave Bisping troubles. He landed more and got a take down. Had Miller not had the cardio of a TUF Heavyweight this would have been a much much much MUCH closer fight.
Eh. Honestly, he did nothing with his mount. Yeah, if Mayhem was a guy with Leben power, Bisping would have been in danger. But he isn’t.

bisping didn't look good either
he can’t stop a plodding zombie. they stop the fight but miller could have taken that beating all night because bisping was tired himself. from what i don’t know he usually is in much better condition.
I thought Bisping looked alright, but he definitely wasn’t on point as he usually is. His performance was definitely bolstered by Mayhem looking like trash.

They need to stop giving guys who have been out more than year top billing
Miller, cung le, Cain… They all fought like crap. Is Brock next to get whooped? Who knows… But its not fair to fans or the fighters that they keep putting in guys with ring rust.
I guess the exception is Cain because he was the champ. But, IMO, maybe the champ should be stripped if they can’t defend their title in more than a year.

Keep in mind that Overeem will be a little rusty, too, I am sure.

Keywords: a little. I don’t think he’ll be as rusty as Brock.

In addition to this, Brock cowers at the thought of fist to face contact. I think Overeem is going to obliterate Brock

Well, in this case, it makes sense.
This was the TUF finale, and so the coaches were fighting. I get your point, though. But a lot of the guys they’re bringing from Strikeforce are going to be in that category since there have been so few SF events lately. So if they have a bigger name from SF, they don’t want to necessarily bury them on the card even if it’s been a long time since they’ve fought.

On a side note
Mayham’s entrance was anti climatic to say the least.

heh dana is not going for that b.s.
his sneakers were cool though he flashed those to the camera for a reason. them sneaker were fireeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
i dont think anyyone should be cut til you lose to the lower tier
It makes no sense to me. You don’t drop a guy from fighting one of your top middleweight’s to fighting outside of the organization. Drop him to the bottom tier of MW first, to see if he is caliber of the lower end of your division. If he isn’t then drop him.
Mayhem gassed. The year off. The UFC debut (ok return whatever) the adrenaline dump. Whatever. You don’t drop him cuz of that. As rogan always says, you often can’t see a guys realpotential til his second ufc fight due to the big show factors.
The ufc should give him one more fight and see how he does. With as marketable as he is, they’d best giving him an up and comer with solid striking and weakwrestling. Someone who has made a fair name for themselves with that striking but will succumb to millers wrestling. Keep your marketable fighter get him a win.
Bisping looked shitting too. He got outstruck in the first despite miller looking soooo sloppy. Was held down with ease too. Then miller gassed, and bisping showed why he is Pillowfists McTeatime. So many unanswered blows. So manyy guys woulda ko’d. Miller in rnd 2. But not pillowfists
The bottom line is Georges is being a little bitch. He didn’t step up and say anything when the UFC pulled me out of this fight. I understand sometimes you have to do what you’re told, but why wouldn’t you tell the media you still want to fight me? If I was Georges, I would want to fight the best. I would have asked for the Anderson Silva fight. I would have asked to fight the Strikeforce champ. But he sits there like a robot and doesn’t say anything at all, just like he’s not going to say anything about me calling him a bitch now. If I saw BJ Penn walking down the street and called him a bitch, we would be fighting right there on the spot. — Nick Diaz

miller has wrestling i thought his thing was ju jizzle? black belt in ju jitsu right?
well miller might have the akiyama problem that he makes to much money to fight bums. eveyone can’t get the brandon vera treatment. brandon makes way to much money to fight the level of talent that he does.
I bet all the bullies that caught a beatdown enjoyed that fight
Millers next fight should b against that Russian bully
