Houston Alexander Ticketed for Misdemeanor Child Abuse
There are certainly some folks who read the headline and just take that as fact. Yes, Houston Alexander was charged with misdemeanor child abuse, but there is definitely more to this according to our friends at Middle Easy. Per Kathy Bell at KMTV in Omaha, here are the all too weird details:
Police ticketed popular MMA fighter Houston Alexander for child abuse after the 39-year-old became upset with his 16-year-old and made him box with him.
Police reports say officers were called to a home near 44th and Maple for a domestic disturbance. The older Alexander told them he was having trouble with his teen son, who was "having explicit sexual contact on Facebook with some unknown females." The 16-year-old reportedly lied and "made him very upset."
According to police reports, "Alexander then retrieved boxing gloves and told his son, 'If you are going to lie to me, then we are going to box.'" The two reportedly boxed in the basement. Officers describe the teen as having a "slight bloody nose and pain to his right side."
Alexander was cited for misdemeanor child abuse.
This is just strange on so many levels. One side says that Houston Alexander's son has an amazingly strong pimp hand. The other says that his boxing hands need work. More seriously, it would seem that the kid had an opportunity to tell his father the truth and took a much more painful route. One could assume that if he just left with a bloody nose and a little pain in the side, Houston didn't hit him like he was a deviant Keith Jardine. However, was the punishment just for the act committed? What do you folks think?

Interesting
If his 16 year old son was being a bully at school or raised his hands at his siblings or mom or something, I could kinda get behind what he did, but wanting to box just because his son lied about having sex seems…weird.
Anderson Silva, Edson Barboza, Jose Aldo, Charles Oliveira, Thiago Alves = Muay Thai wrecking machines!

at first I was like, What?
but this makes total sense. I think it’s kinda crap this is considered child abuse. His son is 16. If he thinks he’s all hard/playa/G Thwang, a father should be with in his rights to knock him down a peg.
Son sounds like he wants to be grown too fast.

Personally, I could give a f**k less about fighter interviews and tweets etc. I watch MMA for the violence of technique. Ya’ll can keep all the extra s**t.
We need context for this. If he was trying to act tough and being out of control it seems like this wouldn’t such a big deal. Most douche bags and assholes in the world are just people who have never been punched in the face. At the same time it is a cruel and unusual punishment if he was just being a normal teenager. My dad was a fighter, but he never really put his hands on me. At the same time, I never really acted out or was poorly behaved.
