Brock Lesnar Responds to Critics About His Chin

Photo

Brock Lesnar spoke to Sports Illustrated regarding all the talk that he cannot take a punch – he claims his chin has been tried and tested.

Well, how does Lesnar respond to critics that bring up his fights against Shane Carwin (whom battered Lesnar in the first round but seemed to punch himself out and then get submitted in the second round) and his fight against Cain Velasquez (who TKO’d Lesnar in the first round)? In both fights, when he was hit flush, he turtled up.

Lesnar responds classicly. "I think it's a bunch of bullsh--. The fights that I've gotten hit, I've stood and banged with Heath Herring, Randy Couture, Frank Mir -- I've taken a lot of shots. I mean, Shane Carwin. And I've yet to be knocked out. I had refs stop a fight for a submission and a TKO, which is a referee stoppage. I've never been knocked out cold."

I never viewed Herring, Couture and Mir as power punchers or knockout artists. I also don't think that being TKO'd as opposed to being knocked out cold should be considered that far apart, either. Getting TKO'd in a fight, to me at least, doesn't mean you have a great chin, especially when all he did was cover up. I'm not sure Lesnar is completely prepared to take on Alistair Overeem at UFC 141. I'm sure the dutch kickboxer and Strikeforce, Dream and K-1 heavyweight champion will try and test Lesnar's chin. Will he be ready?

As Lesnar said, "I wouldn't be in this position, doing what I'm doing, if I was that horrendous of a fighter. I've got faith, I've got confidence in my skills, and I've got confidence that I can beat this guy."

We shall see.

I completely agree with this:
I also don’t think that being TKO’d as opposed to being knocked out cold should be considered that far apart, either.

Exactly

I’m not saying he has an Arlovski got to sleep chin. Obviously, not the case.

We are saying he doesnt react well to getting hit. His stance changes completely to a defensive, not technically sound defensive stance like “oh fuck” get your head farther away from his fists type deal.I’d image he could get punched all day and be conscious, but not react well or defend well.

The bottom line is Georges is being a little bitch. He didn’t step up and say anything when the UFC pulled me out of this fight. I understand sometimes you have to do what you’re told, but why wouldn’t you tell the media you still want to fight me? If I was Georges, I would want to fight the best. I would have asked for the Anderson Silva fight. I would have asked to fight the Strikeforce champ. But he sits there like a robot and doesn’t say anything at all, just like he’s not going to say anything about me calling him a bitch now. If I saw BJ Penn walking down the street and called him a bitch, we would be fighting right there on the spot. — Nick Diaz

I'm trying to figure out when Alistar Overeem became such a great mma fighter...

his greatest victory was when he demolished Brett Rogers. I feel bad for Overeem, the only thing he has going for him this fight is that Brock has been out for so long. If we see the NCAA championship caliber Brock, Overeem is going to been in for a tough ride…

If you look at his 205 days

He was a great fighter for 5 minutes til he gassed. If you look at his K-1 matches, he is a great fighter. If you look at his MMa matches, yes he wasn’t getting the competition he should for the last few years, buthe still did things like KO Fujita when nobody ever could, or KO Todd Duffee in seconds when he was supposed to be the future of the division.

No, he hasn’t had the chance to fight Frank Mir, Shane Carwin, and Cain Velasquez. But I’d say fighting Peter Aerts, Remy Bonjasky, Badr Hari, Gohkan Saki, Tyrone Sponge, Ewerton Texiera, Bed Edwards…. honestly if you look at everyone Lesnar has fought in his career vs. everyone Overeem has fought since the start of Lesnar’s career and Overeem has fought much more and tougher competition.

The bottom line is Georges is being a little bitch. He didn’t step up and say anything when the UFC pulled me out of this fight. I understand sometimes you have to do what you’re told, but why wouldn’t you tell the media you still want to fight me? If I was Georges, I would want to fight the best. lets not forget the battles that Lesnar has been through during his dominance in the NCAA

106-5 record in college 2000 NCAA champion, 2nd place in 1999… Also, even though he got smashed, his attempt to become a d-lineman in the NFL should also be noted.

Sorry to say this but heavyweight K1 is to fighting as the Lingerie Football League is to Football…
