WEC 47 Live Results
We're super excited about tonight. We're watching the fights with Bauzen from Middle Easy. Yippee! We have a buddy. We're hanging out in his pimped out pad, I have a Diet Rock Star in my right hand and I'm ready to do this. We'd love if you'd discuss the fights with us through the comments. Let's keep this interactive people.
Palaszewski vs. Darabedyan
Alright, both these guys names suck, so from here on out, they will be referred to as P and D. If I type out their names every time, I'll miss most of the fight. The first thing I notice is that P is very pale. He really needs to get out in the sun a little more. Vitamin D really does wonders to a person's mood. Oh, but watch the tattoos. We wouldn't want those to fade. D is dominating P pretty nicely. It's the pale skin. It beckons like a beacon to D. See, another reason to get a tan. I'm just here to help. Bauzen thinks P is going to catch D in a submission and I agree. I said before that he appears to be dominating P, but there's a bit of a spastic quality to it all. Nice call, Bauzen! P makes D tapout with an armbar. Woot!
Taurosevicius vs. Davis
And we have another name that I will not type out every time. Taurosevicius from here on out will be T. Lazy? Yes. Do I care? Not one bit. How about a big shout out to Stephan Bonnar. He's not nearly as annoying as I thought he would be. Which is not to say that he's not annoying, just not as annoying as I thought he would be. And we have our first instance of questionable reffing. The ref stops them as they are working in the clinch. Hmmmm, I hope this doesn't set a precedent for the rest of the night. Well, the ref didn't stop the fight after an obvious nut shot to Davis, so it keeps getting better. So yeah, there's a fight going on. I have Davis on this one, but there's still a minute to go in the last right. T was going for a submission, but the ref stopped the fight again. What the hell? Bauzen is having a coronary. It's kind of exciting. :) Winner by decision, LC Davis. Man, is he lucky the ref doesn't know shit about the rubber guard.
Jens Pulver vs. Javier Vazquez
They're showing Faber. My goodness! His butt chin is getting worse!! How is that even possible?! Jens Pulver's walkout shirt is friggin' amazing. But poor Jens looks like he's going to cry. There definitely seems to be a lot of emotion in the poor guy. Talk about a fan favorite, huh? I can't imagine him winning here, but I hope it's not a complete routing. I'd like to see him get a win here to go out on top. Pulver goes for a guillotine quickly but Vazquez gets out. Javiers got great jiu jitsu. Vazquez has the crucifix on Pulver. Pulver has a huge egg on his temple, and Vazquez gets the armbar. Sad.
Miguel Angel Torres vs. Joseph Benavidez
My Mom is calling a first round win for her boyfriend, Miguel Torres. Miguel Torres looks like he's ready to deliver a major beat down. Scary! Benavidez looks tiny compared to Torres. Good first round so far. Trading some punches and now we're on the ground. Looked for a second like Miguel might be going for the submission but Benavidez wasn't having it. Benavidez is small, and he definitely has a ton of power. First round to Benavidez. Round two and I'm completely put off by Benavidez. I'm having an Oompa Loompa nightmare. And my Mom was wrong about a round 1 Torres win, and I can feel her pain from here. Stay strong, Mom. Benavidez gets the takedown again, Miguel is cut badly, and things aren't looking good for him. Benavidez wins by guillotine. Mom is on suicide watch.
Brian Bowles vs. Dominick Cruz
This is a night of upsetting fights for the Gals. Brain Bowles kind of looks like Mark Wahlberg's younger and not quite as hot brother. Have no idea who's going to win this fight. Lot's of striking and I really wish Bowles would keep his damn hands up. Cruz is looking king of spazzy. Bobbin' and weavin', old school style. Great shots back and forth and this is a great fight. First round to Cruz? 2nd round and Cruz is continuing his reign as the fancy footwork king. Cruz is looking really good and Bowles looks like he doesn't know what to do with him. But that is quickly changing. Bowles looks like he may be starting to figure out Cruz. But then Cruz takes Bowles down. What the hell is happening here?! 2nd round to Cruz. What the hell??? We had a commercial break, and when we get back to fight is over. Bowles had to bow out. What is it? A jacked up leg. messed up nose or a broken hand? I'm confused and cold. I'm so, so cold. Someone hold me. In the post fight interview Bowles mentions a broken hand. That's a bummer. It was a great fight and I hate that it ended that way.
Anywho, what a great night of fights. WEC never disappoints. I would love to see a Cruz/Bowles rematch. Good times!

P and D
P always looks like the anemic skinny boy at the beginning of his fights…but you quickly see his talent come through!
Yup
Glad to see him get the W. I had the feeling he was getting his leaving papers with a L tonight

Did anyone catch the ref's name who scored it 29-29 in the second fight?
I have to give mad props for a ref actually scoring a fight right! And actually scoring a round 10-10!

Time to retire
Jens Pulver will always have my respect as a fighter but how many times do we have to watch him lose and cry before he stops…why do these guys have to keep goIng down hill instead of leaving when they are still on top?
I like Bonnar but his voice is annoying as hell!!
This is when it starts to get bad that these fighters get paid so little cause most will never have enough money to save anything. Maybe he can get a commentator job or something.

I feel bad for Scott Jorgensen sometimes...
The dude’s fought in the WEC 7 times (6-2, only losing by close decisions) and is ranked around #6 or so in the world (maybe higher after this raping but I think its just more of showing the obvious- that Scott shouldnt be fighting outside the top 10) and he’s exciting too!
I’m always stoked to hear a Jorgensen fight is coming- but then it always is relegated to the prelims! ARGH! They did it again this time around too. Luckily His fights are always exciting enough to move up if there is time. Unluckily there isnt always time!
I was pretty ticked to miss his last fight with Misugaki. I still haven’t seen it actually… (to do list)

I agree with that. Scott J is a tough little dud and always shows his fans a good fight. OMG..my favorite fighter is about to come on..Miguel, my Angel and a very talented Benavidas! This has to be good!

this has to be GREAT!

That was one of the most beautifully executed amazingly brutal 20 seconds to glory for benavidez

Sob! Sob!
PIease excuse me for a while so that I can drown my sorrows in a few Long Island Ice- teas!!!!!!!
I wonder what the round robin for Cruz, Benavidez, Davis, Vasquez was...
it was my fake money wish bet- and right about now im wishing i would have actually bet! (I win when i dont bet money, i lose when i do haha)

Seems like Dominc Cruz was winning the fight although Bowles has always been a danger when fighters make mistakes….too bad that it had to be stopped! Dominc looked very good!
I was waiting for Bowles to surprise Cruz and knock him on his ass.
Hopefully we’ll see a rematch after he heals.

no offense but guys have won fights with two broken hands. he is sounding like jamie varner
and that is not good.
I'm all about covering the spread and moneylines. I was building a house, I don't deserve this, deserves have nothing to do with it. Bang. "Unforgiven" I drink your milkshake. I drink it up! "There Will BE Blood"

well...
I kinda agree with both of you…
Sure, fighters have fought with broken hands before- but the severity of a break can differ dramatically. A hairline fracture vs. a snap of a bone.
and although he COULD have kept fighting, and very well COULD have won, I think it is a wise decision for such a young fighter with such a bright future to call it quits for the night. He who runs away, lives to fight another day!

Bonnar hearts Cruz
is it me or did Stephan Bonnar have a huge bromance with Dominic Cruz? There were times when Bonnar forgot Bowles name, the guy was obsessed with Cruz. What is it with these announcers being one sided…cough cough Frank Mir. By the way, Reid Harris must be hating life! Instead of having a highly anticipated re match with Torres/Bowles he may have Benavidez/Cruz. That fight will need to be stacked with major fights or that card is going to suck. I would rather see Jorgensen/Cruz.
