My Thoughts on Marcus Davis' Tweets

PrintI feel it necessary to jump on my soap box regarding the tweets that Marcus Davis posted about Dan Hardy. Check them out:
He followed up with this:
Does Davis really think that "gay photos" are worse than wishing AIDS on someone? I worked as a therapist at AIDS Project Los Angeles, where I provided counseling to people with AIDS and their families. Let me tell you, there isn't much else that's worse in this world than dying of AIDS. It is an extremely undignified death that involves pain, anger, depression, and social stigma. The medication that people with AIDS have to take becomes a full time job. And that's just for those lucky enough to have medication work on them. People who contract a drug resistant form of the disease don't even have the option of taking the medication. They get to deal with wasting away very quickly with no hope of help unless new drugs happen to be developed that can help them.
How can he say that photos are worse? Because they last for life? Give me a friggin' break. The photos are obviously photoshopped and only a mental midget wouldn't realize that. But oh no! They are gay photos on top of that. Well sweet Jesus, that should give him the right to fire bomb Hardy's house. I mean of all of the horrific things you could do to someone, photoshopping (badly) them at a gay pride parade must certainly be the worst. You can see some of the pics here.
Davis has since removed the tweet from his page and his manager had this to say to MMA Junkie:
"I've known Marcus a long time, and I've never heard him say anything like that," Cavallaro said. "Marcus has four kids. That's not something he would go around saying. I know he wants to fight Dan, but I don't think he'd say anything like that."
Um, no, he said that. The beauty (and suck) of the internet is that there is always going to be a record of what you've said. So, that's not going to work. I really don't know how Davis is going to come out of this looking like anything but a first class douchebag.
Okay, I am stepping off of my soapbox now.

I’ve always hated Marcus Davis but never really had any reason to do so. Now I do.
I will forever savor the mental warfare Hardy launched leading up to their fight. Not only did he win the fight before a punch was even thrown; he left Marcus mentally decimated and possibly scarred for LIFE.

marcus davis has a tremendous amount of real scar tissue around his eyes unless he
got cosmetic surgery like wanderlei silva did.

but does anyone really believe he wishes death on Hardy or was that just a feeble insult reflecting more of his own homophobia than anything else?
Or does he just want a payday to he has to create some hate?
I tend to think it is one of those rather than a true blue wish for death on another person.
I'm with you for sure.
It was just badly done in my opinion. Why not a simple wish for death a la Frank Mir or Tito Ortiz?

Why I think everyone is going overboard.
I understand you have history with the disease, so before you stab me in the face Beth, I have to say that actually wanting someone to die of AIDS is pure fucked up.
With that…. I think everyone is over reacting. I know its not something that many females would say… but many many many men have said something like “I hope you die of feline AIDS” or “Fuck you, you have cancer” or “I hope you get hit by a bus” or “jump of a cliff” etc etc. Guys are rude and crude and will say the worst thing they can think of when it comes to their enemies (and their friends too…) but its not like they’d actually do any of it
Does the dude hate Hardy? For sure. Does he actually want him to contract a deadly virus and die? No. Come on. He was replying on the beat to a fan’s twitter with “I hope he dies of _______” where _______ is just whatever horrible thing he thought of off the cuff. It’s not like he infected Hardy, or tried to get someone to, or has come back with telling us how he really, truly does want Hardy to get AIDS. The dude said it, then goes “Damn. didn’t think people would trip”, deleted the post, and tried to distract us by pointing the finger at Dan’s pictures.
