Strikeforce Challengers Live Blogging

Strikeforce_challengers_medium

It's late.  It's 11 PM and I'm super tired.  We had yummy pizza and just finished watching Spartacus.  Apparently it's bloodlust Friday.  Hope I don't nod off here.  Let's do this!

Star-divide

Yancy Medeiros vs. Raul Castillo - Yancy has some good tats.  We need to remember this.  We'll have to see how he does before we even think of giving him such an honor as tattoo of the week.  Beth remarks that its a super small venue, and I agree.  I believe I see Esther taking pictures.  Sorry, I need to focus here.  Good fight so far, but I can't imagine these guys sustaining this type of energy.  Neither one is giving any ground.  I'm giving the first round to Medeiros 10-9.

Alrighty, it's Beth now.  I'm gonna take this beatch on for awhile as Donna is indisposed.

Castillo seems a little jumpy for the second round.  I've gotta say, that guy is built like a brick shithouse.  Lovely, I know.  I'm very eloquent.  Castillo tries to take down Medeiros, but Medeiros isn't having any of it.  I'm giving Medeiros this round too.

Oopsy, Castillo grabs his junk like Medeiros gave him a low blow.  The ref wasn't having any of it and told him to keep fighting.  Medeiros is really composed for this fight.  Castillo appears to be wasting most of his energy trying to take down Medeiros.  It's not happening buddy.  Now Castillo kicks Medeiros in the nuts.  Silly boys.  The ref sure doesn't seem to be giving Castillo any time to recover.  I think Castillo should kick him in the nuts so we can see how long it takes him to recover.  This fight is going to a decision, which I give to Medeiros all the way.

Woo Hoo, I'm right!  Medeiros wins by unanimous decision.  And another Woo Hoo for the delicious cappuccino that I am now drinking.

Gilbert Melendez is doing an interview and he's holding a Rock Star.  Now I totally want a Diet Rock Star.  I'd call it the power of subliminal advertising, however, I have been a confirmed Diet Rock Star addict for many years now.  Do I dare drink one at 11:43?  The Duane Reade downstairs is calling my name.  I must think on this.

Tarec Saffiedine vs. James Terry

Okay, I already don't like James Terry from his pre-fight video.  Apparently he's responsible for every person in the audience.  I hope he gets punched in the face really hard!  Oooh, the bloodlust hits.  I have a super bad jones for a Diet Rock Star.  Damn you, Strikeforce!  My cappuccino is ruined.

Terry jumps out in the first round like an eager beaver.  I hope he makes a mistake and get punched in the face really hard!  He's looking a little spastic.  Is that mean?  Lots of kicks and lots of punches.  Fun!  I'm predicting an early gassing by Terry.  We shall see.  Terry takes Saffiedine to the ground, but he's unable to keep him there for long.  I'm giving this round to Saffiedine.

Saffiedine seems more composed than Terry in this round too.  He's just picking away at Terry.  Lot's more punches and kicks, Terry has a nice line of bloody coming down his lip.  Terry's finishing up the round with some nice leg kicks, but I'm still giving this round to Saffiedine.

Bonus Shame Dog sighting!  You couldn't really see his face, but they showed Nick Diaz and there he was two seats down.  Sigh, warm feelings, giggles.

Same shit, different round.  Saffiedine is definitely looking like the better fighter tonight.  Terry has a cut open under his left eye, and Saffiedine is just picking away at him.  Fun flying knee!  Got to give it to Terry.  He's taking quite a beating, but he won't go down.  Saffiedine looks to end it, but it goes to the judges.  Saffiedine wins by decision.

So I went and bought a Diet Rock Star, but I've decided to save it for tomorrow morning.  I have the will power of a shaolin monk!

Luke Rockhold vs. Paul Bradley

Yippee!  It's our Pantydropper of the Week vs. the guy who got kicked off of TUF because of a herp outbreak.  I'll give you one guess as to who I'm rooting for.  Hmmm, Bradley has his own last name tattooed on his back.  Not okay.  Some nice boo's for Bradley.  Do you see what the power of the pantydropper does?  It's unstoppable people.  Announcer just said En Fuego.  Donna almost tossed the TV.  If there i one thing that Donna hates, it's when people say En Fuego.  And yes, I make sure to say En Fuego as often as possible just to annoy her.  Oh my goodness, Luke Rockhold is just delightful.  He's a breath of fresh air in a forrest fire, a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day.  6'3" of yummy goodness.  Sorry, I digress.  On to business.

The fights starts with some punches, then Rockhold knocks down Bradley.  Bradley recovers, but gets knocked down again pretty quickly and the ref stops the fight shortly thereafter.  Rockhold just destroyed Bradley.  I'm happy.  I can't be sure, but I think he just mouthed, "That was for you, Beth."  Did anyone else see that?  I LOVE HIM SO MUCH.  :)

Trevor Prangley vs. Karl Amoussou

Amoussou breaks through some cime scene tape to get into the cage.  Cheeseball!  Prangley has a delightful accent, however, his Wolverine hair is a bit too much.  Amoussou seems to have the showboating down, yuck.  The ref keeps reminding them to fight.  10 seconds to booing.  Prangley gets Amoussou to the ground, but he's not really doing anything.  The ref stands them up.  Amoussou's punches are nasty!  He scares me a little, I think I like it.  Amoussou gets poked in the eye and the doctor stops the fight.  Amoussou is objecting, he doesn't want it stopped.  Too bad, the fight is stopped.  Boo.  Fight ends in a draw.  Boo.

Sarah Kaufman vs. Takayo Hashi

Alrighty, I'm curious to see this fight.  Mainly because I'd like to see if my feelings on women's MMA have changed.  It just bothers me seeing women punch each other in the face.  Does one grow accustomed to it?  After a few more fights will it not matter that they're women?  We shall see.  Kaufman definitely seems to be deciding the pace of the fight.  Not sure why Hashi isn't trying to take her down, but whatevs.  First round to Kaufman, 10-9.  Not much action to start the 2nd, until Hasi gets knocked down again.  Hashi's getting some leg kicks in.  She definitely seems like she doesn't want to get too close to Kaufman, which is smart.  I'm finding it super off putting that Hashi continues to smile.  She does know she's in a fight, right?  Awfully boring 2nd round.  Kaufman gets that round too.  3rd rounds not looking much better.  On a completely different note, I'm very much looking forward to the spring, as all my cute shoes are made for the spring and summer.  Have I told you yet how very much I love shoes.  And purses.  But I really love shoes.  Oh.  The 3rd round is over.   Yawn.  Kaufman has this one too.  Ok.  I'm going to focus for round 4.  Still smiling.  Still creepy.  Hashi seems to suddenly be remembering that she has a ground game.  About time.  Nothing happens from it though.  This ref seems to be awfully quick at pulling them apart.   Hashi shoots again, but to no avail.  I have this gorgeous pair of navy blue Michael Kors wedges that I just can't wait to wear again.  They're also super comfortable, which is a super bonus.  4th round over, to Kaufman.  Hashi seems to be picking things up this round, but i gotta say, it's gonna be too little too late.  Another eye poking incident.  How exiciting.  A lot of finders going where they don't belong tonight.  Tee hee.  All right, it's over.  Sarah Kaufman wins.

Trying to stay awake for Luke?

Bradley may very well hurt him…badly…

You must remember, Bradley was not kicked off of TUF for his performance, but because he had a herpes outbreak.

You might want to put two pairs of panties on Luke after tonight!

Kaufman-Hashi

Hashi certainly has the better ground acumen, but says she wants to stand with Sarah- which would be bad news bears for Takayo.

two very talented 135ers. Maybe they can determine who’s the #2 135er out there, cuz despite what Strikeforce may want to hype- Tara Larosa is the best woman at 135

Well off to play some Call of Duty MW2.

I have a desire to get my ass kicked by guys who have put hundreds of hours into playing that game.
