My Thoughts on Herschel Walker
You can't throw a dead dog without hitting an article about Herschel Walker's upcoming Strikeforce: Miami fight on January 31st. When we first heard about this fight, we dismissed it as a stunt fight, which those that follow us know we hate with a passion. But as time has gone on, I'm no longer so sure how I feel about this whole debacle. Walker has been training with AKA (and our boyfriend Luke Rockhold), so he's been working with some of the best guys in the business. He's also been extremely open to the MMA media, which definitely makes me happy. Also, I've heard he's donating his fight purse to charity. Despite all of these things, I can't help but feel that there are so many guys out there that have been training for years for their shot at one of the major promotions, and I hate to see their shot go to a 50-year-old ex-football player. So to help me, I'm going to ask the opinion of the smartest people I know, my parents our readers. What do you think?

I voted for leave the old bastard alone because
1. I like the occasional freak show fight.
2. I think he should be able to give it a try
3. He won’t last long in MMA. Once he gets a real fighter he’s done.
I am pissed that he’s on the main card, along with Lashley, even though I’m going to the event and will see all the fights I don’t think either of those guys should trump Hieron/Riggs. Plus I also feel that those are two wasted spots on the show. I’d rather see two other fights.
"I will do nothing lightly. When I walk, I will walk heavily. When I fight, I will fight with conviction. When I speak, I will speak strongly. When I love, I will love with everything"
Well
They offered Hieron a fight with Whitemare Zaromski’s and he ducked him saying he didn’t have a big enough name. If Hieron is gonna dicktuck like that fuck him and stick him on the undercard.
Gimme 1 round!

That's fine
But don’t give me garbage like Sims/Lashley or Walker. That’s ridiculous.

They have to attract the casual fan and media interest somehow. Despite the fact that it will be either FotY or KOotY fans aren’t going to be tuning in just for Lawler vs Manhoef. But they might retain viewers for their next show after that slobberknocker.

Oh man
I forgot about that fight! But I really don’t think they will draw many casual fans with lashley and walker.

herschel walker seems to be a decent guy.
everytime i see him on tv he has shown he is a great athlete or hard worker like he was on the apprentice. i’ll bet he surprises everyone and does quite well.

It's a stunt fight
but I wouldn’t count the guy out as a stunt fighter yet. I gained a lot fo respect for him after watching the indept interview with mmafighting.com . The dude has the mind of a martial artist and claims that he would have went into MMA instead of football if it was a sport then like it is now. He hates with a passion shit like Jose Canseco and others coming in willy nilly and is starting so late in life cuz he knows he couldn’t fight unless he could do it 100% daily and has never had his days free.
He 100% is giving his purse to charity.
Ill wait to pass judgement

Herschel
I also thought he availed himself very well during the mmafighting.com interview, and he had an excellent appearance on MMA LIVE on ESPN that showed he is a true fan/student of the sport.
He’s a dream for the promoter really, he has the star quality of a ‘stunt fight’ to bring in newbies, but I think for the more learned fan he will have some surprising skills to prevent it from being a drool-fest.
Everyone wins! But it does sound like Herschel was just born 10 years too late. Gotta admire his respect for MMA.
Oh, and can he pls post LOTS of pics of his training sessions w/Mr. Rockholt? WIth said Mr. Rockholt wearing as little as possible, thanks.

Gee Donna, after seeing that picture of Walker you posted I can’t help but think that you should get out of my dreams and into my car.
The weather is here, I wish you were beautiful
That’s a couple of times I’ve given away my advanced age in front of the MMA chicks, but I don’t care. That shit was funny.

No worries
I’m old enough to have very fond memories of that song, including it’s use in the movie License to Drive.
Leave him alone...
Ok, so it’s probably a stunt, But he is a really, really nice guy. It’s not easy to hate on him.
