The Gals Chime in on All the Assorted Goings On
Sorry about the lack of posts in the past few days. Real life (blech) has been calling and demanding some time. But I know you all have just been holding your breath waiting for us to chime in on all the exciting crap that's been happening. Well, you can breath again.
Dan Henderson
Donna's Opinion - I say good riddance. Rumor has it he wanted a cool million to stay with the UFC, but I gotta say, he's worth maybe a fraction of that. I know he's been riding high off of his Bisping KO, but his 5 most recent fights for the UFC have by no means put him out there as one of the best. 3-2, with only 1 win not by decision. The idea that his Bisping fight would put him on the fast track for a Silva fight was ridiculous. Henderson already fought Silva and lost. Give someone else the chance to get beaten to hell fight him. Now, bring forth the hate mail.
Beth's Opinion - I guess it's good that fighters have a second option, and Strikeforce is more than the "small regional show" that Dana White makes it out to be. Someone must have been stroking his ego to make him think that he's worth anything near what he was asking to UFC for. And now he gets to hold on to the dream that one day he will fight Fedor. It's good to have dreams.
Hoelzer Reich

Donna's Opinion - the fact that this brand has been part of MMA for any length of time is shameful, and I was so happy to see the MMA community join together to get rid of this crap. I don't care if you take off the obvious SS symbols and Swastikas. These are images (the helmet & cross) that represented the Nazi party and are often used by White Power groups, thereby making them inappropriate for any use other than hate.
Beth's Opinion - Did people really not see the Nazi symbolism here? I mean come on, even I know it was more than my German guilt coloring my opinion on this. I've heard people arguing that White Pride tattoos are no worse than the Brown Pride tattoos that some fighters have. Come on now....White Pride stopped being okay when hate groups starting spouting it at their rallies. Same thing with the symbols used by the company. Yeah they may have roots in things not related to the Nazis but too bad, the Nazis used it and that's what they'll forever be associated with. It's like the swastika. When I see one, I don't think "Hey, there's a sacred symbol from ancient Buddhism." No, I think of Hitler. I'm glad that the company has been banned from sponsoring fighters. There's no room in professional sports for hate. Unless, it's me hating Josh Koscheck. That's okay.....I think.
